Who are the Catstronauts?

The Catstronauts also known as the Naudians are a tiny species of feline looking aliens who travel all around the universe to colonize planets. Why? Well to expand their empire of course, but in all seriousness the main reason they colonize planets is to build more cities where they can live comfortably. Naudians are very small compared to a lot of species, and because of this they don't feel safe anywhere. As a result, City building has become an important business within their civilization, and all Naudian leaders hope to one day own their own utopia on an exotic planet.

Anatomy

Naudians are very small in size ; they are as tall as a doll. they got two large ears and a sharp muzzle and no visible nose. their eyes are large and their pupil has a horizontal shape to it, their eye color is always blue. They are bipedal and their legs are slightly shorter than their arms.

Naudians have a specific amount of spikes on their tails which indicates their ranks in their societies. The more spikes there are on the tail, the higher their ranks. Some higher ranked individuals can also have Tendril-like whiskers.

Internal Biology

Reproduction info

Naudians were so paranoid of going extinct that they have had their biology modified by the Lythyans to have more chances to make them more resilient, controllable and productive. Their reproductive organs are internal for both male and females, the only way for them to reproduce is through artificial means. This was done for numerous reasons which are listed below.

To have better control over the population numbers
To prevent overpopulation, especially when resources are lacking.
To make sure colonisers will not be distracted with reproductive stuff.
To make sure that only select genes will be used in the gene pool to prevent unwanted traits from passing down.

Also despite them having no need to reproduce manually anymore they did not get rid of romantic attraction because having Naudian colonisers be able to form close bonds with each other will make sure they'll work better together and also so they will care more about the safety of each other. And if they still happen to have parental instincts to care for the next generation it will give them more of a reason to work on those colonies for a better future.

Life cycle

Naudian pups are born from small round bubble-like capsules. These capsules are often kept on spaceships. When the pups are ready they will all be taken care of by a worker who is specialised with raising them and teaching them the necessary skills for survival. Depending on their needed purpose some will be trained to be used as terraforming workforce while some might be more lucky with working in an already established settlement. Those who set out to become colonisers will have to venture out on dangerous missions where they will have to deal with extreme terrain and large creatures. Depending on how many successful missions they have completed they can have higher ranks within their societies. If they get ranked high enough they can be given a city of their own in which they can set rules of their own as a reward of all their contributions to their kind.

Naudians have huge appetites and eat all kinds of fruits and veggies, but preferably meat.

The Naudians wear a suit with an orb on their chest. This orb provides them with extra communication technology so that they can have contact with their fellow crew members when on a colonization mission. It can also be paired up with numerous technologies to remotely control them.

History

The Naudians are a species with a humble beginning. Back on their home planet it was a stressful life as they had to hide away from all the other megafauna who terrorised their kind for generations. Eventually when they somehow accurid space travel they were able to flee from their predators, horrified to find that the majority of species out there are giants and they where at a complete disadvantage, their species was almost always belittled or never taken seriously which has made the naudians bitter towards all other alien life. They started colonising planets and decimating the local fauna to establish theri civilisations.

The Naudians enjoyed their newfound cities but unfortunately due to poor planning and the lack of natural predators, their population boomed out of control and eventually they no longer had enough resources to maintain theri society which resulted in a civil war that tore their society apart. After this a select few individuals fled to space. They then found the one species who would treat them with respect and who potentially had a solution to restore their population, the Lythyans. After having their biology modified and improved the Naudians decided to create a new empire where they would create new utopias for their species to thrive in a more controlled manner so that they would never have to endure such a downfall.

They still go out there to colonise planets but this time they started trading and selling the local plant life and fauna with other species to get a respectable reputation with other species and to hopefully make themselves look like potential allies instead of enemies.
